SPRING VALLEY, Minn -- After watching storms move around the track all afternoon the track crew had prepared the surface for racing on Saturday night. Just as the track was packed in and was ready for race action a Storm rolled through the track dumping about a 1/4" of rain in just a matter of minutes. The crew kept working the track trying to slowly bring it back into shape as the sun shine came out with a rainbow over the track. Unfortunately the storm pattern that was building up over northern Iowa forced the promoters to cancel the racing activities for the week. A dozen of the racers and some fans joined the promoters and track crew in the entertainment building after the rainout and enjoyed some food and drink while watching last weekends racing activities on TV. Deer Creek has started taping every weeks racing action for review by the drivers after the nights racing activities in the entertainment building. With only one nights racing activities fully complete and three rain outs the season is off to a rough start for the Southern MN Speedplant. Hopefully the weather will co-operate with the promoters over WISSOTA country and this upcoming weekend can get some great racing action at their local tracks.

Saturday May 17 will be the double features for the USRA Modifieds and WISSOTA Late Models. After an early evening rain on the 10th the evening's activities were cancelled with the event being rescheduled for May 17. A special thanks to Keystone Automotive Industries, Inc. for the sponsorship of tonight's activities. Local KWWK Radio station will be the evenings sponsor for the May 17 event.

May 24 the USMTS Modifieds will be on hand for the first $2,000 to win USMTS Show of the season. A great field of USMTS competitors is expected to be on hand at the track to battle with the 35 local USRA Modified Drivers. This is the second day of a four day swing through Southern MN and should provide some excellent racing at the Southern MN Speedplant.

Don't forget to mark Sept 18, 19, & 20th on your calendar for the 5th annual Featherlite/USMTS Fall Jamboree. Modified drivers this is one event that you won't want to miss. An announcement will be made for the purse structure on the 24th at Deer Creek during the USMTS Southern MN Spring Challenge. Last years event paid $2,000 to win on Thursday night, $4,000 to win on Friday night and $6,000 to win on Saturday night. Tickets for this seasons event will go on sale on the 24th of May at the track and general ticket sales will be available at the office on the 26th of May, This years event will be the biggest Jamboree ever and should be a must see on everyone's list of events this season.
