Deer Creek Fall Festival results
SPRING VALLEY, MNinn. (Sept. 28, 2002) - 134 cars checked into the back gate for night number one. The track was bladed a couple times during the heat races and the dash races were some of the best features I have seen this year with 3/4 of the banking being used and cars just about flatfooting it around the track. Unfortunately night number two saw the track battle with a light misting of rain all day. Just as everyone was about ready to get going the first rain came and with a little work from the track crew the surface was just about ready for racing action as another storm rolled in. After a light rain the track was started to work back in again and just as they called a drivers meeting another rain came. During the drivers meeting they were given some options on how to handle the night and the drivers took a vote to cancel the nights racing. So the rain ended the final activities for the season at Deer Creek Speedway. Mark and Becky Noble were on hand tonight for the activities and after finding out that they were celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary an party was held under the VIP towers. A lot of food was brought in as the crews, drivers, fans and promoters relaxed for the evening with some good conversation and activities throughout the night. Everyone had a great time but the season did not quite end under a great night of racing. The first season under the promotion of the Queensland family was a great success as the drivers, fans and crews all enjoyed the racing on the track this season and many of them stayed around to thank the family for that. I also would like to thank all of the fans, drivers and the Queensland family for a great year and I look forward to many more successful years of racing at the South Eastern MN track. I look forward to the continued improvements of the facility and the activities planned. This years banquet will be held at Grumpy's in Grand Meadow with catering by John Hardee's Bar-B-Que of Rochester.
