HMT ready to rip during Independence Day Weekend

WHEATLAND, Mo. (July 1, 2025)—Hot on the heels of the Larry Phillips Memorial, the USRA Heartland Modified Tour presented by Real Racing Wheels is back at it for three more shows in the ultra-competitive chase for the 2025 title.
Racing this weekend begins Thursday night at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo. It will be a complete show, with an unbelievable fireworks show at the end of the evening. It's also kids night where the track gives away hundreds of bikes for kids. A regular stop on the tour schedule, this is the first time for the series racing on their Independece Day show.
“I have long thought this is the top, homegrown, community based event on the track's entire schedule,” said series co-owner Trenton Berry. “We have streamed this show with RacinDirt the past few years and it just keeps building with support. When we had the chance to showcase our series there, it was a no-brainer. We can't wait for Thursday night.”
Once Thursday wraps, the show rolls an hour and a half up the road to Central Missouri Speedway in Warrensburg, Mo. Once known as the "Home of the Mighty Modifieds," the division has not raced at the track since 2021. They honor long-time track announcer Tom Wilson over Independence Day weekend every year.
“To help rekindle the “Tom Wilson Memorial BBQ Bowl” is an exact reason this series exists,” Berry added. “It's no secret Modifieds were on a sharp decline in Missouri and Kansas two years ago. For CMS to place their trust in us, to help them get back to the roots of what they started all those years ago, is really humbling. None of it would have even been remotely possible without the support of so many great teams following us to all these wonderful places. This event is one of the first on our wish list of shows we scribbled down when the tour was no more than an idea.”
There is a wild points chase unfolding week after week on the tour as well. Coming off his runner up finish in the LP Memorial last weekend, Brandon Givens stretched his points lead to 62 over Tad Davis. Shadren Turner, Wyatt Gaggero and Bobby Williams complete the top five. There are only 106 markers between first and fifth. Only 149 points separate the top 10.
All three nights of racing will be carried live on RacinDirt for those who can not be at the track. We would love to see you come experience the thrill of the HMT in person, it will be an amazing weekend of family friendly entertainment.
