USRA Northern Lights Modified Series heads to North Iowa

GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (June 4)—Excitement for the USRA Kevko Racing Northern Lights Modified Series presented by Real Racing Wheels continues to build while drivers gear up for two electrifying events this weekend.
Saturday, June 7, the series will stop at the historical 1/2-mile Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City, Iowa, followed by a showdown at the full throttle 1/3-mile Mason City Motor Speedway in Mason City, Iowa, on Sunday, June 8.
Brandon Davis, who picked off a win during the inaugural NLMS event at Mississippi Thunder Speedway in May, will be one to watch, and had great things to say about the new regional series and its concept.
“I think the NLMS is great and is the jumping pad local racers need,” commented Davis. “It has the racers in mind with a stout payout throughout the field, and the qualifying format puts the night right in the driver’s hands. We’d love to race with the USMTS and those are the best of the best in modified racing, but a lot of guys can’t travel like that schedule demands. This gives us an opportunity to race competitively for great payout within a few hours of home.”
Davis won the Saturday portion of the series inaugural weekend after a close late race battle with defending USMTS Champion Jim Chisholm. His younger brother, Joe Chisholm, was the inaugural race winner on Friday, sneaking by race-long leader Keith Foss with just a handful of laps to go.
Joe Chisholm is the series points leader after the pair of season openers thus far. Davis, Jabob Bleess, Foss and Kaden Blaeser round out the top five.
Action is slated to get underway with hot laps scheduled for 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, and on Sunday fan can expect an earlier evening with hot laps set for 5:15.
