Ortega, Kaup, Lindsey get Veterans Night victories at Route 66 Motor Speedway


AMARILLO, Texas (May 31, 2025)—Route 66 Motor Speedway honored military veterans on Saturday night during the Veterans Night presented by Diamond B Racing & Fluid Line Components, delivering a thrilling evening of racing action across the USRA Modifieds, USRA Limited Mods, and USRA Tuners divisions as part of the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series.

In the USRA Modifieds Feature, Xavier Ortega of Las Cruces, N.M., started second and powered to the victory, holding off a strong challenge from Sammy McNabb of Amarillo, who finished second from the pole position. Leland Cruz of Amarillo took third after starting third, while A.J. Sharpensteen of Amarillo charged to fourth from the sixth spot. Kalvin King of Amarillo rounded out the top five, starting fourth.

The USRA Limited Mods A Feature saw Jeffrey Kaup of Woodward, Okla., claim the win, surging from third to take the checkered flag. Brock Hall of Amarillo finished a close second after starting second, followed by Ryan Reeves of Lubbock in third from the fourth position. J.P. Vasquez Jr. of Lubbock advanced from eighth to fourth, and L.J. Moore of Amarillo completed the top five, starting from the pole.

In the USRA Tuners Feature, Teddy Lindsey of Canyon took the victory, leading from the pole position to salute the crowd. Michael Reyes of Shamrock finished second after starting third, while Israel Reyes, also of Shamrock, claimed third from the seventh spot. Austin Lindsey of Canyon secured fourth from the fourth position, and Marcos Tobar of Amarillo rounded out the top five, advancing from ninth.

The evening paid tribute to veterans, with a patriotic atmosphere enhancing the competitive spirit on the track. Heat races set the stage for intense battles, with local drivers like Teddy Lindsey and Brock Hall dominating their respective divisions early, while out-of-state contenders like Ortega and Kaup showcased their skill to steal Feature wins.
