Jon Sheets won the USRA B-Mod main event.

WHEATLAND, Mo. (May 17, 2025)—Jon Sheets of Nevada proved too tough to catch Saturday night in the featured event on the Lucas Oil Speedway Pitts Homes & Realty Weekly Racing Series program.

On Public Safety Appreciation Night, Sheets led all the way to earn the 25-lap, $750-to-win Clear Creek Golf Cars USRA B-Mod main event.

Sheets and J.C. Newell started on the front row. They ran first and second through the first 10 laps, with the exception of lap four when J.C. Morton took second away from Newell, but that was only temporary.

By lap 15, Sheets’ lead grew two 1.5 seconds with Morton a similar distance behind Newell for second. A couple of laps later, Ryan Gillmore moved into the third position as Sheets continued to show the way up front over Newell.

Gillmore’s march continued as he drove into second on lap 22, but time was running short to catch the lead. Sheets, who used the low groove most of the way, finished it off by beating Gillmore by 1.3 seconds.

"I thought the race track was moving up, but I led the whole race down there," Sheets said. "I just want to thank everyone at the shop that keep sthis thing going. I couldn't do it without them."

Newell wound up third with Morton fourth and Robert White in fifth.

Fennewald first in USRA Stock Cars: Johnny Fennewald took the lead on lap 10 over Mason Beck and went on to capture the O’Reilly Parts USRA Stock Cars feature. Fennewald, of Appleton City, finished 1.2 seconds in front of William Garner of Lebanon at the finish.

Beck, who started in the fourth position, drove to the lead on lap two and held it until Fennewald took command midway through the 20-lap race.

James McMillin was fourth with Zach Zeugin capturing fifth.

USRA Modified win to Phillips: Veteran Terry Phillips of Springfield led every lap of the Arctic Food Equipment USRA Modified main event, finishing .784 seconds in front of Nic Bidinger of Perry, Kan.

Phillips started from the pole in the 20-lap feature after winning his heat race from the third position. Bidinger started fourth and advanced into second by lap six, but could never catch Phillips, though he cut a 1.1-second lead with six to go down to under a second by the finish.

Chad Lyle started and finished third with Ryan Middaugh advancing from ninth to fourth. Jeff Cutshaw wound up in fifth.
