Shipman, Goepel kick off Chateau Speedway season with feature wins

LANSING, Minn. (May 9, 2025)—Chateau Speedway roared to life Friday night for the season-opening event featuring the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series on the 1/3-mile semi-banked clay gumbo oval.
Fans were treated to thrilling action as drivers battled for supremacy in the USRA Stock Cars and USRA Hobby Stocks classes.
In the USRA Stock Car feature, Travis Shipman of Mason City, Iowa, charged from the sixth starting position to claim victory. Chris Toot of Albert Lea held strong for second, followed by Casey Colsch of Caledonia in third. Stacy Krohnberg of Walters secured fourth, while P.J. Duchene of Faribault rounded out the top five.
The USRA Hobby Stock feature saw Kolby Goepel of Britt, Iowa, lead from the pole to take the checkered flag. Jason Newkirk of Austin fought his way to second, with Terry Quam of Cresco, Iowa, finishing third. Samuel Fitterer of Lake City took fourth, and Braden Schaer of Garner, Iowa, completed the top five.
