Hibner, Derry, Harris nail down Generational Buildings Night wins at I-35 Speedway

Brad Derry won the USRA Stock Car main event.
WINSTON, Mo. (April 26)—Generational Buildings Night on Saturday presented thrilling racing events at I-35 Speedway. Winning drivers commended the track's versatility, praising the top, bottom and middle lanes in their post-race interviews. The racing action featured several classes competing three- and four-wide on the track.
The USRA B-Mod feature was a welcome back party for Daniel Harris, who has been out of racing for a couple of years. He used his outside front row starting position and led every lap.
Lonnie Hibner started in the outside third row and worked his way to the back bumper of Harris and applied pressure for several laps, but Harris stood his ground and crossed th finish line first. Hibner finished second, followed by Corey Meyers, Adam Dunwoodie, and Chris Leathers.
USRA Stock Cars had a stacked field, as some of the best stock car drivers in the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series were in attendance. This race involved lots of close racing, but there were a lot of yellow flags too.
Brad Derry, from the pole position, led every lap of the race but, as he stated in his post-race interview, they were "wearing out his rear bumper." Matthew Lance challenged Derry all race trying in vain to steal the low groove.
Jaylen Wettengel followed Lance to the finish and Mich Ross, doing double duty, finished fourth with his USRA Stock Car.
The USRA Modified feature was 20 laps of green-to-checkered racing action. Lee Hibner, from the outside front row, led the first lap but soon his son, Tyler Hibner, was on his bumper and the father-son race was on.
Track owners Mike and Kyle Johnson watched their son, Houston Johnson, join the mix as the three cars approached lapped traffic. Johnson was able to pass Lee Hibner for second and could close on Tyler Hibner in the corners, but at the checkered it was Tyler Hibner, Johnson, Lee Hibner and Shayne Bailey, finishing in that order.
We will be back next Saturday night, May 3, for our weekly racing series, so be sure to make your way to the track to watch the dirt fly. Check out www.i-35speedway.net for more information.
