SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (April 26)—The Deer Creek Speedway launched its 2025 racing season on Saturday with an electrifying 144 entries in four Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series classes.

The event drew fierce competition from several states, with standout performances from some of the track’s most accomplished drivers.

In the USRA Modifieds, Brandon Davis of Hayfield, Minnesota—the winningest driver in Deer Creek Speedway history and a two-time USRA Modified National Champion (2012, 2019)—powered from the ninth starting position to claim the victory.

Davis, who has also secured three of the last six USRA Modified track championships, led a talented field that including Alex Williamson of Rushford who led the first 12 circuits in the 25-lap nightcap before following Davis to the checkerd flag. Zach Brom of Winona, Jacob Bleess of Chatfield and 11th-starting Joe Horgdal of Mantorville rounded out the top five.

The USRA Stock Car feature saw 2023 USRA Stock Car track champion Brayden Gjere of Mabel get the glory while  Jason Schlangen of Cresco, Iowa, roared from 10th on the starting grid to second at the finish line. Andrew Eischens of Taopi, Jacob Bleess of Chatfield and Daniel Eckblad of St. Peter completed the top five.

With 44 entries, the USRA B-Mods were split into two main events, each producing a winner with each holding the hardware in the end.

In the first feature, Jett Sorensen of Rochester took the victory, followed by Adam Martinson of River Falls, Wis. A trio of Austin racers—Noah Grinstead, Garitt Wytaske and Kaeden Bronner—were third, fourth and fifth, respectvely.

Fans witnessed Dan Hovden of Decorah, Iowa, claimed the win in the second feature race, with Hunter Kennedy of St. Ansgar, Iowa, garnering the runner-up honors. Caden Neisius of Hastings; Christopher Deno of Mantorville; and Dustin Kruse of Baltic, South Dakota, completed the top five.

The USRA Hobby Stock feature was led by Dustin Doughty of Hudson, Wisconsin, who started on the pole and led all 18 laps for the win. Luke Schluetter of New Hampton, Iowa wound up second, and eight-time USRA Hobby Stock National Champion Dustin Gulbrandson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota took third place. Joshua Monson of Clear Lake, Iowa, and Terry Quam of Cresco, Iowa, rounded out the top five.
