Drummond, Slader winners at Crawford County Speedway


—Crawford County Speedway turned up the heat on Saturday, March 22, as the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series brought a double dose of dirt track excitement to the Van Buren, Ark., faithful with the USRA Modifieds and USRA B-Mods tearing up the oval.

The USRA Modifieds feature saw James Drummond from Mountainburg take charge from the pole position, leading the pack to the checkered flag with a masterful display of control. Chris Lewis of Springdale powered his way from fifth to second.

Matthew Canfield from W. Fork, who posted the night’s fastest qualifying lap at 18.279 seconds, started fourth and nabbed third, keeping the leaders in sight. Local driver Chris Belcher started sixth and fought his way to fourth, while Fred Ramsey of Fayetteville rounded out the top five after slipping from third.

In the USRA B-Mods feature, Brodey Slader from Muskogee, Okla., charged from second to claim the victory. Caleb Barker of Elkins made a bold leap from sixth to second, and Devin Barker, also from Elkins, started on the pole but settled for third.

Johnathan Ferrari of Alma kept the pressure on, starting third and finishing fourth, while Jeremy Howell of Fort Smith completed the top five after battling from fourth.
