During a month that’s often associated with college basketball’s March Madness, the dirt track season at Lucas Oil Speedway will tip off Saturday, March 22, with the inaugural March Full Body Madness.

Four divisions of full bodied classes will be in action, including the O’Reilly Auto Parts USRA Stock Cars plus Hickamo Super Stocks,  SMSI Pure Stocks and the 4 State Dirt Late Model Series.

Grandstand gates will open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7:05. A practice session is scheduled for Friday, March 21, from 6-9 p.m. Pit passes are $35 that night.

“We’re looking forward to a great event with the full body cars all grouped together on the same program. It should be a great field and a lot of fun as we begin our season,” Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Danny Lorton said.

The USRA Stock Cars are going after $1,500 to win and $150 to start, with national and track points in the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series awarded.

The entry fee for USRA Stock Cars is $120 (driver pit pass included) if received before March 20. Late entry fee after March 20 will be $120 plus $35 for a pit pass.

USRA Awards Banquet coming up: The annual USMTS/USRA Awards Banquet is approaching fast and the celebration of the 2024 racing season for both the Summit USMTS National Championship presented by RacinDirt and Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series, happens at the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City on Saturday, January 25.

This year’s gala will once again be a joint effort for both organizations. Competitors, crew members, track owners and officials, fans and members of the media are invited to attend this huge event.

Guests that come on Friday can join other early birds and some of the USMTS/USRA staff for a trip to Kansas City Power Lights District. We will be taking a shuttle from Ameristar on Friday at 8 p.m. and back again at 11 p.m. If you plan on being part of this please let Kelsey or Janet know that also so we can get the right-sized shuttle.

The ceremony will feature a luxurious and plentiful selection of fine food, plus a huge dessert bar. A cash bar will also be available. Doors open and social hour begins at 5 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6 and the awards ceremony begins around 7 p.m. (no jeans or hats please). Space is limited.
