Dishong doubles while Marrant also visits Nextran Victory Lane

Aaron Marrant won the USRA B-Mod main event.

Aaron Marrant won the USRA B-Mod main event.

It was a great night to remember at Lakeside Speedway on Friday with drivers pulling their cars onto the track at intermission to pass out candy to kids. The top five kids' costume winners were crowned with the Mini Flying Penguin taking home the crown.

Chris Dishong, Dylan Holt and Jaylen Wettengel battled to win their heat races and set their sights on the win in the USRA Stock Car feature.

Dishong drove to the front of the field as he and 2024 USRA Stock Car track champion Wettengel raced side by side for the lead. Dishong ran the high side, taking the lead early as Holt took his turn challenging and battling Rodney Schweizer for position.

Schweizer used a late-race caution to set up his move for the lead but could not get by Dishong in the closing laps. While Dishong celebrated in Nextran Truck Center Victory Lane for a second time, Schweizer finished second with Wettengel third.

Holt was impressive with a solid fourth-place finish, and Eddie Ingram ended the feature fifth.

The USRA B-Mods roared to the track and put on a show of epic proportions for all the fans in attendance.

Heat race winners were Josh McLaughlin, Aaron Marrant and Nick Newton. Marrant used his front-row starting spot to get to the point early with McLaughlin challenging along with Newton.

McLaughlin faded with Newton taking over the second spot to challenge Marrant. Sam Florence was in the mix as he and Kerry Davis battled the entire feature for position with Florence winning the battle on the last lap.

The big mover of the race was Jake Richards as he developed trouble in his heat race and started last in the feature. Richards and John Baker put on a show for fans, racing hard and clean mid-pack.

As the checkers dropped, Marrant picked up the feature win after a four-week absence to celebrate in Nextran Victory Lane.

Second belonged to Newton, who was in the mix for the win throughout the feature with Florence who raced his way to third.

Fourth went to Davis as Richards ran out of laps on his charge from the back to the front, finishing fifth.

The Lakeside staff would like to thank all the drivers that participated and all the fans for being a part of the fun. As the regular season comes to and end, we thank all drivers, crews, staff, safety crews and fans for making it a great 2024 season. May 2025 be even bigger and better.
