BRITT, Iowa (June 14, 2002) - John Pletcher of Britt held off a persistent charge from Mark Elliott of Webster City to win the Stock Car feature on Friday June 14 at the Hancock County Speedway. Pletcher took the lead on the third lap and Elliott worked his way into second by lap seven. The duo battled for the remainder of the contest, with Pletcher taking his second feature win of the season at Britt.

It was a double celebration in the Pletcher camp as he also qualified for the Big Bud Shootout on August 9 with his second place dash finish.

John Logue of Boone brought his flashy new look to the track on Friday, and promptly drove it into victory lane for pictures. Logue started front row and led all laps holding off challenges from Brad Bakken of Garner and Jay Noteboom of Orange City. Noteboom was involved in an incident that sent him to the back of the restart on lap three. Driving like a man with a mission he made up the lost ground to finish in third. Bakken took second spot.

Joe McBirnie of Boone took the challenge but was involved in a mishap and could not finish the contest leaving the race after fifteen laps.

Ed Green of Algona looked impressive as he took another Limited Mod feature win coming from dead last to the winner’s circle. Scott Manske of Algona was second with Matt Prehn of Mason City in the third spot.

Earl Webner of Garner looked strong in the hobby class coming from seventh to first by the third lap. He held off Shane Monson of Clear Lake until three laps from the finish when a slight bauble by Webner was all Monson needed to get by. Monson got the victory with Webner second and Toby Boothroyd of Britt capturing third.

The Econo feature went to Matt Bryne of Woolstock with Harry Armstrong of Badger in second. The duo traded first and second spot throughout the contest with Bryne the eventual winner in the KLSS of Mason City sponsored night.

This Friday June 21 is Pepsi Midseason Championship with driver introductions on the track prior to each feature event. Hot laps begin at 7:00 with Races at 7:30.
