Gunning for a second straight championship with the USRA American Racer Modified Series Presented by Day Motor Sports, "Big Daddy" Joe Duvall may have put the final nail in the coffin on Saturday night at 105 Motor Speedway in Cleveland, Texas.

After finishing the pair of heat races as the night's top points car, Duvall struck gold drawing the number one pill for the night's A-Feature line up. When the 25 lapper finally went green, Duvall worked multiple lines around the racetrack and distanced himself from Sean Gaddis.

"Hats off to the track crew for preserving the bottom of the race track tonight. I really thought I was going to be a sitting duck,” said Duvall. “As the race went on, the middle and top of the track just got more and more dirty from the moisture on the bottom being thrown across the racetrack, and I just had to watch it to make the right move at the right time."

And a sitting duck he nearly was. However, it was not track conditions that nearly got him, rather lapped traffic playing a big factor at the end of the race.

With just three laps to go, Duvall approached a pair of lapped cars near the rear of the field. With the preferred lane clogged, Duvall struggled to dispatch the lap cars, allowing Gaddis to gain wholesale ground and give himself a realistic shot at the win.

The top two crossed under the Hochatown Saloon "Last Call" white flag nearly touching nose to tail. Gaddis took a peek under Duvall in the final two corners, but Duvall held off the driver from Diana, Texas, and took the $2,000 winner's share back home to Justice, Okla.

Gaddis finished second, Sam Osman third, Tyler Townsend fourth and Chris Henigan completed the top five. Heat race winners were David Tanner and Osman.

The win for Duvall is was second of the season with the series.

Behind him in the points standings is Osman, Chase Hatton and Philip Houston. Those three are separated by just 11 points.
