Hatton beats Henigan to 105 Speedway checkers
The USRA American Racer Modified Series Presented by Day Motor Sports visited the 105 Speedway in Cleveland, Texas for the first time Friday night. It turned out to be a great night fora series VP Racing Fuels Rookie Chase Hatton, who picked up his first win of the year.
Hatton’s fortune began during the main redraw, when a young fan selected out of the crowd, drew the pole position for the driver of the number 211. At the drop of the green flag, Hatton quickly grabbed the lead from Kenny Gaddis.
With a narrow racing line leaving passing at a premium, Gaddis hounded Hatton early taking multiple peaks to the outside of the DeBerry, Texas driver. Unphased, Hatton maintained the lead while late in the race Chris Henigan took his shot.
Ultimately it was to no avail as Hatton picked up the the $1,500 victory. Chris Henigan, fresh off of back to back series wins, was the night's runner up. Kenny Gaddis completed the podium in third. David Tanner and Joe Duvall filled the balance of the top five.
Heat race wins went to Philip Houston, Kenny Gaddis and Chris Henigan.
Saturday the USRA ARMS Presented by Day Motor Sports completes the weekend at 105 Motor Speedway in Cleveland, Texas. The show will be available on both RacinDirt and RaceOn.
