BRITT, Iowa (June 8, 2001) – Curt Lund became the third different winner in a many Jackpot Junction series events this season, winning the Friday night feature race at Hancock County Speedway.
Lund, from Redwood Falls, Minn., dueled with early leader Bruce Allen of Mankato, Minn., before taking over the front spot on the sixth of 20 circuits.
Allen stayed in pursuit but was never able to catch up with Lund, who set the pace to the finish on the dry slick sur-face. Drivers battled for position going three deep in the corners and the race was slowed just once by caution.
Following Lund and Allen across the finish line were Sid Denzer of Le Sueur, Minn., and hard-charger Bob Hildreth of Iowa Falls. Hildreth passed eight cars enroute to his fourth-place run.
Lund is now second on the all-time series list with five career wins. His last checkers came back-to-back at the start of the 1999 campaign.
