Sunflower State awaits USRA Heartland Modified Tour

Having had the last three weekends off the USRA Heartland Modified Tour Presented by Real Racing Wheels will storm back into action this coming weekend with a pair of shows in Kansas.

Friday, July 26, the series invades Humboldt Speedway, where the first two series events were contested back in April. Saturday, July 27, will mark the first visit to the Caney Valley Speedway. Both shows will pay $2,000 to win and $250 to start.

Tyler Wolff and Chad Wheeler are locked into a tight points battle at the top of the series season long standings. Coming into the weekend an incredible 13 drivers have perfect attendance. Action has been intense from top to bottom all season long.

Perry, Kansas racer Nic Bidinger currently is sitting in third, but has all sorts of competition breathing down his back. The next seven positions behind him are within 60 points. Every finishing spot matters greatly as the first year tour hits the stretch run.

We had some conflicts on this schedule initially,” Bidinger said of his decision to follow the tour. “We weren't expecting to be in the position we're in. If I stay up in the points, we'll probably move my schedule around to make it happen. This is the type of deal I have wanted for a long time. We enjoy it. To get out and learn and race other places has allowed us to learn so much. I've learned more in my career this year than at any other time.”

Back in June, Bidinger struck paydirt on his home track, Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas.

“The win was fairly unexpected because at the end of the last year we weren't that good at Lakeside,” commented Bidinger “The track had a little rain shower and I knew what we needed to do to be consistent and finish the race. Wolff broke and he was the fastest car that night, but I knew we could replicate lap times. It just all went our way.”

This coming weekend could prove challenging for the team, as Humboldt has been tough place for them to get a handle on. Caney Valley will be altogether new for him.

“I've never been to Caney so we'll have to have some help from some others and see how it goes,” said Bidinger of the upcoming tracks this weekend. “It's been that way a lot this year, I haven't even raced at Humboldt a lot. Every time I've been there, I haven't been real good. We did get considerably better there earlier this year at the season opener. I think I know the direction we need to go, so we'll go a little further than back in April.”

Action has been fast and furious on the HMT Presented by Real Racing Wheels all season. This weekend should prove more of the same. Thus far nine different drivers have visited Victory Lane.

Friday, racing begins with hot laps at 7:30 PM, and Saturday, the show rolls off at 6:30 PM with hot laps. Racing is slated to begin  half hour later each night.

Both events will be carried live, exclusively on RacinDirt for those unable to be at the track.
