Schweizer, Turner top Lakeside's Berry Memorial
Shadren Turner won the USRA B-Mod main event.
Officials at the Lakeside Speedway thank all of the drivers, staff and fans that braved threatening weather to be a part of a night of great racing action Friday as we honored the Berry Family.
USRA Stock Cars saw a great feature as Rodney Schweizer and current points leader Kacey Shields won heat races and started up front.
Shields took the lead only to see Schweizer storm back by as Shields developed mechanical issues and exited the speedway.
Schweizer held down the top position as Chris Dishong and Jaylen Wettengel dueled behind the leader.
Brent Fielder also flexed his muscle as Robert Garst, in his first appearance at Lakeside in 2024, came from deep in the field to compete.
Schweizer crossed the line first to pick up the feature win with Dishong a close second and Wettengel even a closer third.
Fourth belonged to Fielder with Garst impressing with a solid fifth-place finish.
Shadren Turner and Jaylen Wettengel set the pace early as both won heat races and started near the front for the USRA B-Mod feature.
Turner got his No. 56 out front early as Chad Clancy charged to the front and challenged Turner.
Turner swept the night, winning both his heat race and feature, and denying Clancy a repeat.
Tim Karrick and Kerry Davis raced side by side and lap after lap for position with Karrick winning the battle for third in the closing laps.
Wettengel faded as the caution-free feature came to a close, rounding out the night’s top five finishers.
