SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Springfield Raceway owners Jerry Hoffman and Doug Bland have announced their tenative 2012 season schedule with another year of action on the quick quarter-mile that provides side-by-side racing no matter what class.

Several special events along with a strong weekly show mix has area race fans marking their calendars already. With 26 scheduled race dates this proves to be a win-win situation for both drivers and fans as the Speedway will have something for everyone.

The season will begin with the rain-postponed O'Reilly Turkey Classic presented by Bad Boy Mowers on Saturday, March 10, featuring Late Models, Modifieds, B-Mods and Legends as an outstanding purse will await the drivers in all four classes. The rain date will be March 24 in case of inclement weather.

On March 24 the Springfield Raceway will host the inaugural March Madness featuring the battle between the regional MARS and MLRA Late Models along with Modifieds, Street Stocks, Midwest Modz and Legends.

The chase for the championship will begin on Saturday, April 21, and will end on Saturday, Sept. 1. The weekly points chase will feature USRA RHS Modifieds, B-Mods, Midwest Modz, Pure Stocks, Legends Cars, Street Stocks (Bombers) and the new Young Guns for Legends Cars with drivers ages 12-16.

Nineteen points races highlight the schedule, and even with special events the normal classes will be scheduled to compete for points in that time span.

Special events in 2012 include the John Kuntz Memorial presented by Andy's Frozen Custard as the MARS and MLRA Late Models battle along with support classes on May 12.

The high horsepower USRA RHS Modifieds will battle for extra money while also competing for track points on May 26 and again on June 23.

To end the season, the Sprinfield Raceway will hold the always-awaited Turkey Classic with the date being moved up one week this season on Nov. 17 with a rain date of Nov. 24.

"The weather has only really been good for us two years on this event, but it really draws the drivers," said Hoffman. "Normally the week before has been decent weather and if not then we can try it the following weekend. Family time is tight during the race season and we want everyone to be able and spend that quality time together."
