USRA RHS Modifieds featured in Larry Phillips Memorial Saturday at Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- While the points battles for the regular season are over at the Springfield Raceway, the quick quarter-mile is now heading for the big four specials with the first being this Saturday night with the running of the Larry Phillips Memorial presented by Home-Pro.

Springfield Raceway owners Jerry Hoffman and Doug Bland have announced that the USRA RHS Modifieds will race for national points in the American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series in a $500-to-win, $100-to-start special race.

"The race in the national championship has some drivers who can move around in the standing and we at Springfield Raceway want the drivers to have a chance to better themselves so we will sanction the race with USRA towards national points," said Hoffman.

Looking at the top 20, as many as a dozen of those drivers are close by Springfield.

This event will feature the classic battle between the MARS and MLRA Regional Touring Late Model Series, along with Pure Stocks, B-Mods, Legends Cars and Midwest Modz.

Grandstand gates open at 4:30 p.m. with hot laps at 5:30 and racing at 6:30.

Open draw and passing points will be used. Draw cut-off will be 5:45 and local drivers meeting at 5 p.m.

In case of incliment weather, the rain date will be Saturday, Oct. 1.
