Sean Gaddis won the USRA Modified main event.

Track and series officials battled a tough forecast, and even had a small delay for brief showers, but ultimately Friday's American Racer USRA Modified Series presented by Day Motorsports evnert was contested in it's entirety.

In the end, Sean Gaddis held off Chris Henigan—one of the best ever at Ark-La-Tex Speedway. Gaddis circled the bottom late to score his first ever win at the track and first with the ARMS as well.

He was last season's series runner-up, and this win will certainly provide a shot of confidence as he prepares o get right back after it on Saturday night.

“Anytime I've had something go right here, it always goes wrong,” Gaddis told track announcer Collin Bell in victory lane. “Finally. I've been wanting to win here forever. It's been a long time coming.”

The main event, initially slated for third was moved to the end of the night once the quick shower passed. The track was a little different when the 24-car field rolled out for the Wehrs Machine "A" Feature.

“It changed the track a little bit early, but then as the track went on it got slicker and slicker. The track changed a whole lot throughout the whole night.”

Gaddis recently welcomed his second child and tonight was the first time they were at the races as a family of four. His dad, Kenny Gaddis 15th in the feature and was one of the first to his son to congratulate him.

Henigan, meanwhile put on a show of his own. He passed four cars to finish in the runner-up spot and stalked Gaddis late in lapped traffic.

Gary Christian completed the evening's podium in third while Philip Houston and Tanner Mullens rounded out the top five finishers.

The race was slowed by two Midwest Sheet Metal cautions before Sean Gaddis rolled under the VP Racing Fuels Checkered Flag with a 0.770-second margin.

Heat races were won by Time Eaves Jr., Houston, Gary Christian and Joe Duvall. Kenny Gaddis topped the Day Motorsports "B" Main.

Thirty-three cars were on hand for the first of two nights of ARMS racing . Saturday wraps the weekend with a $2,000-to-win main event.
