D.J. Shannon won the USRA Modified main event.

West Coast Modified veteran D.J. Shannon, local open-wheel powerhouse Josh Baucom and Stock car pilot Cameron Furrh all scored wins in their respective divisions, as officials hosted a full card of racing on Saturday night at Boothill Speedway.

Shannon powered to victory in a 20-lap A Main for the headlining USRA Modifieds and Baucom came out on top in a talent-filled affair for USRA Limited Mods while Furrh was triumphant in a hotly-contested tilt for Sunoco USRA Factory Stock warriors.

Bryan Guice was the USRA Tuner feature winner on a perfect night for racing in Northwest Louisiana.

Shannon, of Merced, Calif. started second on a 20-car USRA Modified grid, led all 20 laps and managed to hold off  Ark-La-Tex area strongman Chris Henigan at the line to earn top honors in his first visit to Boothill.

Shannon took home a cool $1,500 payday for his efforts.

Henigan settled for second, while ageless veteran Ricky Ingalls filled out the podium. Jason Ingalls (Longview, Texas) and Dustin Henigan (Marshall, Texas) completed the top five. Finishing sixth through 10th were Sean Gaddis, Jake Huckaby, Jason Langford, Troy Keith and recent USMTS winner Jack Sartain.

One caution slowed the pace for a minor incident. Shannon’s margin of victory over Henigan was a mere 0.139 of a second.

Baucom, of Shreveport, started fifth on a 20-car Limited grid, crossed the stripe in second yet was awarded the win after the car of Colby Williams failed post-race technical inspection.

Tracy Denby Jr. was bumped up to second, while Justin Whitehead finished third after starting 13th on the grid. Connor Mewborn (Texarkana, Texas) and Conner Williams (Sibley) rounded out the top five.

Finishing sixth through 10th were Coty Tupper, Lee Jay Haddox, Landon Rogers, Dustin Taylor and Tim Strickland.

Two cautions slowed the pace—the second of which collected leader Derick Grigsby in a pileup on the front stretch.

Furrh, of Gladewater, Texas, started second on a 20-car grid and led all 20 laps to earn his first career Sunoco USRA Factory Stock win at Boothill.

Chase Hatton made a strong late-race charge and almost stole the win yet settled for the runner-up position, while Josh Worn filled out the podium with a solid performance. Cody Chamberlain (Jacksonville, Texas) and C.J. Howell (Dry Prong) completed the top five.

Finishing sixth through 10th were John Tuggle, Justin Whitehead, Kolton Chamberlain, Dakoda Wyatt and Charles Graham.

Three cautions for minor spins slowed the pace. Furrh’s margin of victory over Hatton was a scant 0.343 of a second.

Saturday night’s program at Boothill drew an amazing 152 entries spread across six divisions. Led by the mighty Sunoco USRA Factory Stocks with 41 teams on hand, there was ample talent in every corner of the pits. Fans were once again treated to side-by-side battles for position throughout the evening.

Officials knocked out 16 qualifying Heats and four B Features in roughly two hours, took a short break, then hosted six highly-entertaining features. It was another busy yet action-packed show at ‘The Hill.’ Track co-promoters Bubba Jones and Ralo Pilkington are off to a strong start at the legendary oval.
