Fast Track Promotions leases Cresco Speedway
CRESCO, Iowa -- Fast Track Promotions, Inc., has leased Cresco Speedway for the 2004 racing season. The lease and agreement was signed Tuesday night at the November meeting of the Howard County Fair Board. The Board, upon committee recommendation, gave a unanimous vote to approve the lease between the Howard County Fair Board and Fast Track Promotions. The 3 principles involved with Fast Track Promotions are Michael Bina, Jamie Krukow and Troy Watts.
"The Board is very excited about the upcoming 2004 season, and for seasons in the future. Fast Track has a very good business plan, and is putting together a set of rules that will compliment our area tracks," stated Tom Barnes, Executive Secretary of the Fair Board. Classes include USRA (tentative) Modifieds, Stock Car, Hobby Stock, Street Stock, 4 Cylinders and B-Mods (details on this class to be set. They are currently working on rules and such).
The weekly program will stay on Friday nights, with much of the same procedures as the 2003 season. Track will most likely host 3 to 5 special events, to be announced. The schedule is in the process of being finalized, with dates for the special events to be set. Now that a lease has been signed, the schedule and rules can be finalized.
Fast Track will be looking at some new personal (as is the case with any change in management) and using some of the personal that have worked the track in the past.
"Needless to say, the Fair Board is very excited about this and will do whatever it can to insure the success of Fast Track Promotions and the speedway," said Barnes. "I personally know 2 of the 3 principles of the group and have worked with them in various ways in the past. All 3 have a background in racing, including car ownership, crew help and all have traveled to many tracks and they understand what the racing industry is today and where it is going in the future. These guys are young, excited about their new venture, and are committed to take the time and effort to insure the program will grow, and continue to be respected by our fans, drivers, crew, owners and sponsors."
Several Board members that worked at the track in the past will stay on to serve as advisors to help Fast Track get the season started.
"On behalf of our Fair Board, we certainly encourage the support of our extended Cresco Speedway family to the new track promoters. We look forward to the 2004, and beyond, racing season," Barnes ended.
