CRESCO, Iowa (Aug. 25, 2002) - H & S Motors of Cresco sponsored the Season Championships, Sunday night at the Cresco Speedway, but before those races were ran, there were three make up races from last week that needed to be ran.

Tony Trower jumped into the early lead in the Stock Car feature and steadily pulled away leading all 20 laps to get the win. Gerald Peter was holding the second spot with the battle being for second with Lynn Panos, Jeff Schlutter, Scott Bauer and Mike Bergan all in the mix. Panos had some engine problems and pulled into the pits. When the checkered flag flew, Trower picked up the win followed by Peter, Schlutter and Bergan.

Hornets were next to the track. Scott Lipps moved up quickly from the 9th starting position and was soon in the lead and picked up the win in a caution free race. Randy Koshatka finish second followed by Eric Kottschade and Garry Gulrud.

Todd Suhr took the early lead in the Modified feature with Dan Bohr, Darrin Duffy and Ron Konkel in close pursuit. Duffy ran the high side of the track and took over first place with 7 laps remaining. Konkel and Bohr were close behind finishing 2nd and 3rd with Suhr finishing 4th.

Dwarf Cars were next to take the track in a special race for them. Brian Shaw and Jeff Jech picked up the heat wins.

After driver introductions the Hobby Stocks took to the track with a slim 2 points seperating Jeremy Moellers and Steve Holthaus for the point championship. Moellers, Holthaus and Tory Reicks all ran bumper to bumper. At the half way point, Reicks took over the top spot and held on for the win. Kevin Donlan joined the mix and battled up to third place behind Holthaus. Moeller finished fourth. The seaon points were close all year so it was no surprise that there would be a tie for the points championship between Moellers and Holthaus.

Jeremy Broszert took the lead on the third lap of the Factory Stock feature and cruised to the victory. How ever Broszert was disqualified for an illegal engine giving the win to point champion Lee Nuehring. Broszert then had all of his season points taken away for unsportman like conduct. Jesse Miller took the second spot folled by Dave Lickteig and Robert Malli. Gary Rotengarger was also diqualified for an illigal engine.

Scott Bauer started on the pole for the Stock Car feature in the only class that was seperated by more than 10 points. Lynn Panos started third and had to replace his engine after the first feature race. Panos ran hard and took over the lead with 10 laps remaining. Jeff Schlutter was also in the hunt with Marinus Mlady moving up fast on the high side of the track. When the checkers flew, Panos took first followed by Schluetter, Bauer and Mlady. Bauer was crowned points champion.

Steve Dwyer started the Hornet feature in the last place position and overcame being put back 2 spots for jumping the start to grab the win. Points champion Randy Koshatka finished second followed by Nathan Cahoon and Scott Spilde.

Darrin Duffy and Dan Bohr ran like the two cars were hooked together in the Modiefied feature race. Duffy ran the low side of the track, going most of the way around on three wheels and Bohr running the high line. With two laps to go Bohr made his move and ran side by side, how ever, Duffy was up to the challege and held on for a slim victory. Bohr finished second followed by Ron Konkel and Josh Secor. With the win Duffy also claimed the points championship.

Brian Shaw took the top position in the Dwarf Feature after one lap and ran up front flag to flag to pick up the win. Roni Van Riper, Tate Bestor and Jeff Jech rounded out the top four.

Next Sunday night the Cresco Speedway presents "Border Wars VI" with the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw sprint Cars plus the Hobbys and Stock Cars will be racing to. See you there.
