CRESCO, Ia. (June 9, 2002) - Bubba's Bar & Grill sponsored tonights racing action at the Cresco Speedway in Cresco, Iowa. We were back to regular racing action tonight as we had enough Hornets and Factory Stocks to run heat races in all five classes.

Modifieds were first to take the track and heat wins went to Brad Rain, Chuck Stanton, and Darin Duffy. Patty Fosaaen, Jeremy Moellers, and Darrin Walch picked up heat wins in the Hobby Stocks.

Stock Cars were next to take the track with heat wins going to Mike Vsetecka, Scott Bauer, and Mike Bergan. The Hornet heat winners were Danny Cale and Murrey Keatley and the winners in the Factory Stock were Shawn Erickson and Lee Nuehring.

Once again the Cash Dash was held with the top two finishers from each heat in the Modifieds, Hobby Stock, and Stock Car divisions. The Modified winner was Darin Duffy. Patty Fosaaen took the win in the Hobby Stock and the Stock Car win went to Scott Bauer. Bauer was the only racer of the night to accept the Gordy's A Challenge, which put him in back of the feature race.

The Modifieds were back on the track next for a consolation race, advancing five to the A Main feature race. Todd Schaufenbuel took the checkered, followed by Shawn Ryan, Ron Konkel, Terry Johanns, and Dick Brummond.

Murrey Keatley had the fast car in the Hornet feature, moving from eighth to second in just one lap. Unfortunately, on lap four he had trouble and took his car to the pits, which gave Danny Cale an easy shot to the finish line. Cale finish 1/4 a lap in front of Garry Gulrud, who finished second. Al Brink took the third position and Scott Spilde finished fourth.

The Factory Stocks were next to take the track. Lee Nuehring and Shawn Erickson both started in the third row and made their way up front, battling hard for the lead. With four laps left, Erickson had trouble with his car and had to end the race in the pits. That left Nuehring all alone to pull ahead of the rest of the pack and take the checkered flag. Dave Lickteig finished second, followed by Robert Malli and Terry Nicoll.

Brad Rain and Chuck Stanton were battling early on in the Modified feature race. On lap 3, a caution sent Rain to the infield and gave Stanton the lead. It wasn't easy for Stanton though, as he had Corey Dripps and Kevin Pittman on his tail, both looking for the lead. With seven laps to go, Pittman passed Dripps and now had his eye on Stanton. Stanton crossed the line 1/4 a car length in front of Pittman, with Dripps finishing third and Darin Duffy picking up fourth.

Darrin Walch started in the second row in the Hobby Stock feature and was looking for his second feature win of the season. Just as he was pulling away, Tory Reicks was making his way through the pack, trying to catch up but Walch's car was just to fast. Walch came away with the win, followed by Reicks, Jason Schlangen, and Brent Tweeten.

Eyes were on Scott Bauer in the Stock Car feature as he started in the back of the pack, trying to make his way to the top to win Gordy's A Challenge. In just one lap, he passed 5 cars and made it all the way to sixth before a blown tire sent him out of the race. After one caution took nearly half of the field out of the race, the race restarted with just eight cars. Mike Vsetecka and Mike Bergan both wanted to come away with the checkered, but Vsetecka had the faster car, coming away with his first feature win. Bergan finished in second, followed by Jeff Schlueter and Lynn Panos.
