Springfield Raceway back in action Saturday night
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- After a couple of weeks off, the quick quarter-mile of the Springfield Raceway will be back in action Saturday night, June 4, with the USRA RHS Modifieds plus B-Mods, Casey's General Stores Midwest Modz, Missouri Legends Cars, Wheeler Metals Pure Stocks and Pepsi Street Stocks as racing will start at 7 p.m.
Springfield-based O'Reilly Auto Parts will be the sponsor for the evening and action will also feature the popular spectator drags where fans can enter their vehicles and go head to head to see who can come out on top.
Going into the fourth points race for the Springfield Raceway, points battles are still very tight as Carthage's Jackie Dalton holds a 44-point lead over Branson's hard-charging Jody Tillman in the high-horsepower USRA RHS Modifieds while defending track champion Mitch Keeter of Webb City, Terry Beckham II of Webb City and Springfield's Erik Maggard complete the top five.
Dalton won the opening two races while USMTS traveler Johhny Scott of Las Cruces, N.M., took the last feature two weeks ago.
Dalton hasn't had it easy as both wins were on the final few laps.
Pit gates open at 4 p.m. with grandstand gates opening at 5, hot laps starting at 6:15, drivers meeting at 6:45 and racing at 7 p.m.
General admission only $10 for adults while kids ages 6-12 are $5 and under 6 are free.
