Rain foils Springfield opener again

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- For the second week in a row rain wins the season opener at the Springfield Raceway.

Officials will try again next week as it will feature a $1,000-to-win, $110-to-start USRA RHS Modified feature event, along with a $200-to-win foot race to be held at intermission. This is a winner-take-all with each person paying a $1 entry fee for one lap around the quick quarter-mile clay oval. This is open to fans 18 years and older. Those that are 16-17 years old can compete but must have a parental consent form filled out. This event is being sponsored by Heartland Antique Mall in Lebanon.

Action in the Transport Graphics Championship Chase will also feature the Reliable Chevrolet Sports Mods, Pepsi Street Stocks, Casey's General Stores Midwest Modz, Missouri Legends and Wheeler Metals Pure Stocks.

For the USRA RHS Modifieds there will be a $30 entry fee per car for this event.

Pit gates open at 2:30 with the grandstand opening at 4, drivers meeting around 5 and hot laps at 5:15. Races start at 6 p.m. Pit passes are $25. Draw cutoff is set for 5:30. Grandstand ticket prices are $10 for adults while kids ages 6-12 are $5 and under 6 are free.
