This Wednesday, August 18, the newly-formed hard-as-nails series for the full-fendered USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars ventures to the Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City and then make their debut on Thursday night at the Hancock County Speedway in Britt.

Heavy thunderstorms and rain that lasted into Friday morning forced the cancellation of the evens at Chateau Raceway. This was the sixth racing program that has been rained out this season.

Unless a trolling motor, paddle wheels and a snorkel on the exhaust were legal, racing was not meant to be Friday the 13th at the Mississippi Thunder Speedway.

It was a night for clean sweeps with five of the six classes having the feature winner also winning a heat race. The only driver not able to pull off the clean sweep was veteran racer Mike Sorensen in the USRA RHS Modifieds.

Erik Kanz made the charge to the lead early in the USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mod main which allowed him to grace victory lane for the second time while Andy Bohnstengel topped the exciting USRA RHS Modified feature.

It was an absolutely picture perfect night for racing at Chateau Raceway on Friday night. Several of the points leaders continued their quest for a track championship when they scored feature wins, including Jason Cummins in the USRA RHS Modifieds.

Rich Gregoire of Russell bested the field of USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars Friday night at the Murray County Speedway to become the eighth different winner in nine events for the newly-formed Dart Iron Man Challenge.

Round 8 of the Dart Iron Man Challenge took to the big half-mile oval at the Jackson Speedway Thursday night, and the first repeat winner emerged in the inaugural season for the newly-formed series for USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars.

Starting in the sixth row of Wednesday night’s Dart Iron Man Challenge main event, Brian Gjere had a long way to go to have any chance at winning the 20-lap contest. Opportunity knocked on lap 13 and Gjere’s answered.

Heavy rain throughout the night soaked the Southern Iowa Speedway Tuesday night, forcing officials to cancel Wednesday night’s program at the Mahaska County Monster.
