Rain halts racing at Mississippi Thunder Speedway
FOUNTAIN CITY, Wis. - Unless a trolling motor, paddle wheels and a snorkel on the exhaust were legal, racing was not meant to be Friday the 13th at the Mississippi Thunder Speedway. The deluge of rain which hammered the speedway, and everywhere else, put a halt to any attempt at racing, but it will definitely heat up the points race.
Almost two months since the last rain out, a critical time for many as the point season draws to a close. Only two track point nights remain.
Ben Anderson leads the USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mod point standings with 72 points over Brandon Hare while Josh Angst holds the lead over Jay Ihrke by 44 points in the USRA RHS Modified point race.
Coming up on Friday, August 20, will be the return of the USMTS Modifieds as they compete in a Hunt for the Championship race. This $3,000-to-win event will bring Modified drivers in from across the country for points, for prestige, and for big money. Images on Metal will present the evening’s festivities which will also include the WISSOTA Street Stocks, USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mods, and the Redbox+ Junior and Senior Mini Mods. Mini Mod racing begins at 6 p.m. with all other classes beginning at 7 p.m.
Also coming up the weekend after Labor Day will be the first USRA RHS Modified Nationals featuring USRA RHS Modifieds and USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mods. Details can be found at www.mississippithunder.com. The season finale will be the Fall Festival held October 8-9. Pick your seat, pick your driver and hold on for the ride!
