Rain forces cancellation of Osky events
Heavy rain throughout the night soaked the Southern Iowa Speedway Tuesday night, forcing officials to cancel Wednesday night’s program at the Mahaska County Monster.
Next Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 9-10, weekly racing will be on hiatus as the annual Front Row Challenge and Ultimate Challenge sprint car events will be held at the Oskaloosa facility. For more information, check out www.oskychallenges.com.
The following Tuesday, Aug. 17, the Southern Iowa Speedway will present Tuesday Night Thunder with the American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series featuring Musco USRA Modifieds, USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars, Carter’s Manufacturing USRA B-Mods and USRA Hobby Stocks.
Pits will open at 5 p.m., grandstands open at 5:30, hot laps begin at 7:15 and the first heat race starts at 7:30. General admission grandstand tickets are just $8 for adults, $3 for kids ages 6-12 and pit passes are $25. Children ages 5 and under are always admitted free of charge.
The Southern Iowa Speedway is a half-mile semi-banked clay oval located 0.5 mile west of US 63 on SR 92, then 0.3 mile north on I St. (at the Southern Iowa Fairgrounds).
