Mike Van Genderen of Newton solidified his position at the top of the points with his second Dart Iron Man Challenge victory Thursday night at the Hancock County Speedway. “The Flying Dutchman” seized the lead from polesitter Kevin Opheim at the drop of the green flag and led every lap en route to victory.

A special “Tuesday Night Thunder” was on tap for tonight at the Southern Iowa Speedway, but Mother Nature brought her own thunder along with a heaping dose of rain, forcing officials to cancel the evening’s racing program. The historic Mahaska County Monster will host Pepsi Season Championships next Wednesday, Aug. 25.

Sorensen nips Donlinger in Deer Creek nail-biter

It was a night for clean sweeps with five of the six classes having the feature winner also winning a heat race. The only driver not able to pull off the clean sweep was veteran racer Mike Sorensen in the USRA RHS Modifieds.
