Chateau Speedway fired up for 2022, adds Medieval USRA Stock Cars to Friday lineup

A third division from the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series will make its debut at the Chateau Speedway in Lansing, Minn., with the addition of the Medieval USRA Stock Cars to the long-running Friday night lineup at the 1/3-mile gumbo clay oval.

“One of the most difficult decisions a track promoter can make is deciding what classes to run each season,” said the track’s owner/promoter Mark Wytaske. “Adding a new class invariably means cutting another one. And while it can be difficult for some drivers it creates opportunities as well.”

Joining the USRA Modifieds and USRA B-Mods each week for the track’s 66th season of racing, the USRA Stock Cars replace the Street Stock class which has experienced dwindling car counts in recent years.

Meanwhile the rising popularity of the USRA Stock Cars has caught the attention of many in the area and with the Deer Creek Speedway in nearby Spring Valley, Minn., adding the class to their Saturday night lineup in 2022, Wytaske made the decision to add the popular full-fendered class to the upcoming season schedule.

In addition to the USRA Modifieds, Medieval USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods competing for track, regional and national points in the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series, Wissota Midwest Modifieds, Chateau Pure Stocks and Chateau Hornets will complete the weekly card.

Chateau Speedway will open the 2022 season on Friday, May 6, with a test ‘n’ tune on Tuesday, May 3, to allow drivers to get some practice laps in before full competition gets underway that weekend.

The Chateau Raceway is located 5.0 miles north of Austin on US 218 to the Lansing Exit, then 1.3 miles east on CR 2, then 0.4 mile south on CR 25, then 0.3 mile east. For more information, call (507) 440-8237 or (507) 440-8238 and visit chateauspeedway.com online.
