OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Set to defend his Southern Iowa Speedweek Mr. Sprint Car title, Shane Stewart and the Scott Chilcutt-owned No. 4m mIn Motorsports Management Sprint Car team enter the nine-day stretch of non-stop racing action throughout southern Iowa on a winning note.

After finishing fourth in this past Friday night’s O’Reilly ASCS National Tour feature at Oklahoma City’s State Fair Speedway, Shane made a daring last-corner pass to post his first ASCS feature win of the season in dramatic fashion at Missouri’s Joplin 66 Speedway on Saturday night aboard the Wesmar-powered Brodix/Penske Shocks Maxim.

“This is our first win since Rob Hart left the team a couple of weeks ago,” Shane explained in victory lane. “Rob did a great job of helping build this into a top-notch team, but I’d had some success before I was with Rob and we’re gonna keep winning races into the future. There’s no reason that the mIn team can’t continue to be a top team for years to come.”

Saturday night’s triumph marked the fifth of the season overall for Shane aboard the Hoosier-shod Sander Engineering entry, with other triumphs including a “King of the 360’s” prelim win at East Bay Raceway Park in January, a World of Outlaws triumph at Louisiana’s Thunder Valley Speedway in March and an O’Reilly Sprint Bandits triumph at Oklahoma City’s State Fair Speedway on July 4, to go along with the $20,000 Dirt Cup victory in Washington in a joint effort between mIn Motorsports Management and Rudeen Racing.

Shane, along with Australian crew chief Dave Sharman and Aussie crew member Brendan Telfer, now shifts his focus to the Knoxville Raceway and Southern Iowa Speedway dirt ovals, where the stakes are upped with hefty winner’s shares and a potential second Southern Iowa Speedweek Mr. Sprint Car title.

The current O’Reilly Sprint Bandits point leader will have his work cut out for him on the first of nine nights in Iowa, as he is slated to start Friday night’s ASCS Knoxville 360 Nationals in the second row of the C Main after being collected in a crash while battling for the lead in a preliminary feature. Friday night’s 360 Nationals finale offers $10,000 to win.

On Saturday night, August 7, Shane will vie for victory honors in the 410-ci program at Knoxville Raceway, the same event in which he collected his first career Knoxville Raceway triumph aboard the Banshee Graphics/B&B Oval Products machine in 2003, helping launch the team’s Mr. Sprint Car title effort.

Next on the slate will be Monday night’s Front Row Challenge at Southern Iowa Speedway in nearby Oskaloosa, featuring a $5,000-to-win purse with $50,000 up for grabs if the “Front Row Challenge” is accepted and fulfilled to completion.

On Wednesday night, August 11, the four-night 44th Annual Knoxville Nationals kicks off. Shane will be seeking to improve upon last year’s career-best Knoxville Nationals seventh-place finish aboard the Schoenfeld Headers/HRP Wings mount.
