Angst, Hare continue winning ways at Kasson
KASSON, Minn. - It was perfect weather for racing at the Dodge County Speedway on Sunday evening, April 18. A couple of drivers continue to be red hot in American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series action.
The KM Telecom USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mods had their issues this week. Nine cars started their feature but managed to rack up four yellow flags while completing only three laps. The race was eventually cut as the fifth yellow came out with less than five laps left resulting in a green-white-checkered dash to the finish.
Brandon Hare continued on his early season tear as he picked up his second win in a row at Kasson. It was Hare's fourth win in a week as he has two at Kasson and one each at Fountain City and Deer Creek.
Sixteen Greenway Co-op USRA RHS Modifieds lined up for their 25-lap feature run. Doug Hillson and Ben Mattick led the field to the drop of the green flag. Hillson took the lead with Mike Sorensen and Ben Mattick in tow.
Josh Angst planted his right rear tire on the cushion and let it fly. Angst put on a show and bolted to second on lap two and then stormed around to the lead on lap two in turn four. Steve Wetzstein was also on the move using the low groove and got by Hillson for third. A caution for the starting line cone on the track slowed the race down.
On the start Angst again took off as Sorensen and Wetzstein had a whale of a race for second. The top three ran in close formation as Sorensen held on to second. Angst would stretch his advantage and that left the race for second.
Angst got his second win in a row at Dodge County. Sorensen was second, Wetzstein wound up third. Ben Mattick was scored fourth and Tom Paulson rounded out the top five.
Racing will continue at the Dodge County Speedway this upcoming Sunday, April 25, with racing getting underway at 5 p.m. For more information on the track go to www.dodgecountyspeedway.com.
