Southern Iowa Speedway hosts 1st Annual Racers Swap Meet
OSKALOOSA, Iowa (Nov. 3, 2002) - Nearly 100 vendors swarmed the Southern Iowa Speedway, on Saturday November 2. Parts owners from many racing venues were on hand to sell or trade, parts and stories. It was a buffet of racing parts for IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks, and Sprint Cars.
The first annual event took place from 8am to 5pm at the famed half mile in Oskaloosa. Consumers from all over the Midwest attended looking for a bargain, and many found just that. Buyers and vendors from Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, South Dakota and Missouri were on hand. Southern Iowa Speedway promoter Bill McCroskey was on hand and said " Things could not have turned out better for our first event. There was a nice mix of cars and parts for everyone. We look forward to an even bigger event next year."
Attendees also had an opportunity to find out more about the new NON-wing 305 class that will be running on Wednesday night in Oskaloosa. Tony Bokhoven, SIS Director of Competition said " This is really a great deal. We have been getting a great response for our new class and many people have visited with me today about what they will need to build a car." " I really think that this class is going to be great for everyone. We have been informed by the Iowa State Fair Grounds that they will be running 305's with SIS engine rules at DesMoines. The only difference will be that they are going to run wings. I think this is great, it will give drivers a chance to run both. We have been encouraging people to support both Mick at Des Moines running with the wings and then our class with out the wing. It's going to fun watching this class grow." Said Bokhoven.
