USMTS to have 1st Fall Festival at Southern Iowa Speedway October 10-12
OSKALOOSA, Iowa (Sept. 24, 2002) - The United States Modified Touring Series based in Webster City, IA is proud to announce that a deal has been signed between the Southern Iowa Fairboard and the USMTS to have one last race at the speedway for the 2002 race season. The USMTS will have this race that will start on Thursday October 10 and will feature the Hobby Stocks racing for $300 to win. The Stock car class will also be running and will pay $500 to win on Thursday night. The USMTS modifieds will also be on the bill and will pay $2000 to the winner of the main event on Thursday night. On Friday another complete program will be run for all classes. The hobby class will pay $500 to win, the stock cars $800 to win and the modifieds $3000 to win. On Saturday the final night of racing will feature all the same classes. The Hobby Stock class will pay $800 to win. If a Hobby Stock driver could pull off all three nights it would be possible to win more than $1600. The stock cars will run for $1200 on Saturday night making a possible $2500 for a stock car. The USMTS modifieds will run on Saturday for $4000 to win making it possible for one driver to win more than $9000 over the three-day race. USMTS feels that having a complete show each night that fans will be treated to some great side by side racing with some of America’s top drivers in all classes. A complete program each night will feature heats, B’s, and A-mains each night. The 4th Annual Featherlite USMTS Jamboree saw more than 105 different modifieds do battle for the same kind of race. USMTS will be putting this race on and fans will be treated to non stop racing action. On Thursday and Friday racing will get underway at 6:30 pm. On Saturday racing will start at 5:30. With most of the racing being done the first weekend in October USMTS expects this to be a big show so fans will get to see plenty of cars. Pit gates will open at 3pm on Thursday and Friday with gates scheduled to open at 2 on Saturday. Grandstands will open at 4pm each day and 3 on Saturday. Admission will be $10 on Thursday, $12 on Friday and $15 on Saturday for adults. Pit passes will be $25 each night.
USMTS Season Finale at the Winston Speedway in Winston, MO October 17-19 for the first ever USMTS Nationals

The United States Modified Touring Series will end the 2002 race season at the same track that the season started at back in March. The USMTS started the season at the Winston Speedway back in March with 58 modifieds checking in for the racing action on Friday night. John Allen picked up the win on the first night as Kelly Shryock picked up night number two and the $3000 paycheck. This race will be a different race as three nights of racing action with a complete show each night scheduled. Practice is scheduled for Wednesday October 16th from 6pm until 9:30 pm. This will be the only night to practice. On Thursday and Friday night the racing action will get underway at 6:30 pm with Hobby Stocks, Stock Cars, B-Mods, and A-mods on the schedule running a complete show each night. The Hobby Stocks will pay $300 to win on Thursday and $400 on Friday. The Stock Cars and B-mods will pay $500 and $600 on Thursday and Friday with the A-mods paying $2000 and $3000 respectively. The final night will feature all the same classes plus the local Charger class running for $400 to win. The final night will see the Hobby Stocks racing for $500 to win and the B-Mods and Stock Cars $800 to win with the Modifieds running for $5000 to win. Most tracks north of Missouri are done racing and this will be a must see show. Some of America’s best drivers will be on hand for all this racing action. Racing will get underway 5pm on Saturday.
