Rilat moves to within 3 points of Johnson for Southern Iowa Sprintweek Title
KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 7, 2002) - "Holy Cow!" Those familiar words by National Sprint Car Hall of Fame announcer Jack Miller best describe Travis Rilat's $30,000 upset at Oskaloosa's non-wing Ultimate Challenge last night and his subsequent rise to within 3 points of Jason Johnson for the inaugural "Mr. Sprint Car" title after the first five events of the 9-event Southern Iowa SprintWeek. Johnson, of Greenville, Texas, has 141 points and Rilat, of Texas City, Texas, has 138 points.
Southern Iowa SprintWeek continues this evening with the first of twin preliminary nights for the 42nd annual Mopar Parts Knoxville Nationals at the Knoxville Raceway. The Southern Iowa SprintWeek champion will claim the "Mr. Sprint Car" title and pocket $1,500 in bonus money.
