Mitch Hovden won the Medieval USRA Stock Car main event.

The grandstands at Fayette County Speedway in West Union, Iowa, were as packed as they could be Friday night as everyone came out to not only take advantage of the free admission night (courtesy of the West Union businesses), but also support a great cause that is the Iowa Donor Network.

With increased payouts for all classes, as well as many fundraising efforts for a good cause, the night was an all-around good time for all!

In the Medieval USRA Stock Car feature, Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series national points leader Mitch Hovden (Decorah) grabbed his 14th overall win of the season and his seventh at FCS as he jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.

Brayden Gjere of Mabel, Minn., who currently sits fifth in the national points standings, took runner-up honors as he held of Decorah’s Kyle Falck to round out the top three. Jake Lampert (Caledonia, Minn.) finished fourth, while Kevin Donlan (Decorah) was fifth.

In an intense Mensink Racing Products USRA Hobby Stock feature race, Decorah’s Jake Ludeking grabbed win No. 8 of the year as he utilized the low groove to get around fellow Decorah racer Steve Larson late in the 20-lap race.

Larson crossed the line behind Waterloo’s Justin Lichty and Jackson Vsetecka (Fort Atkinson) and Chris Dahl (Decorah) completed the top five.

For the second time this year at the 3/8-mile Fayette County Speedway, Protivin’s Ben Moudry cashed in on the a first-place finish as he held off hard-charger Dan Hovden (Decorah) for the top spot.

Hovden, who sits second on the national USRA B-Mod points standings, advanced six spots in the feature to take second.

Trevor Fecht of Allison finished in third place, while Decorah’s Keagen Einck was fourth on the night. In the fifth-place spot was Colby Mann of Caledonia, Minn.

The USRA Tuners featured one of the most intense battles of the night as all five of the top finishers were in contention for the win through the last lap. After the dust had settled, Isaiah Holzer of Holmen, Wis., took the checkered flag for the second time of the season. In second was fellow Holmen racer Justin Anderson, who led the race to the white flag lap. Brad Stahl of Castalia was third, while Mitch Balik (Lawler) was fourth and David Balik (Fort Atkinson) was fifth.

Next week, the action will return to Fayette County Speedway for Hall of Fame night as several historic drivers from the area will be honored for their careers within the local dirt track racing scene. The night will also feature a $1,000-to-win Mensink Racing Products USRA Hobby Stock feature race—all for only a $5 admission.
