Folk blasts to victory at Humboldt

HUMBOLDT, Kan. - Justin "Whitey" Folk once again did what he does so well: blasting off at the green flag and waving good-bye to the rest of the field as he captured the USRA Modified feature Friday night at the Humboldt Speedway.

Jess Folk Jr. gave hot pursuit but finished second.

Brian Bolin scored the third-place finish, with Rodney Sigg and Scott Daniels fleshing out the top-5.

Not all the speed was in the cars, though, as the pit crews of Gene Hogan and Brian Bolin went head to head in the latest instalment of the Pit Crew Challenge. Bolin's crew was quickest in changing front tires on a Modified, and will face the Ryan Whitworth crew for the championship in October.

Humboldt Speedway will honor it's own vintage racers next week with a reunion of drivers who raced "The Hummer" from it's inception in 1968 through the '70s. Drivers who meet this criteria and want to join the festivities should contact Rhenda Whitworth at the Humboldt Speedway. The Vintage Cars and Late Models will return as well.
