Colten Arends won the Medieval USRA Stock Car main event.

The Mensink Racing Products USRA Hobby Stocks set a great pace throughout the race Friday night at the Rapid Speedway with Levi Vander Weide leading the way. He had a comfortable lead over Tyler Schlumbohm and Dylan Fitzpatrick early in the race with Dustin Gulbrandson on the charge.

After a restart, Gulbrandson made his way into the top three and then used the bottom to grab second away from Schlumbohm. Vander Weide held that comfortable lead until a caution on lap eight bunched up the field, but he once again jump out to a two-car-length lead and was looking to drive away with the win.

Lapped traffic created some excitement late in the race as Vander Weide bobbled trying work around them on the last lap and Gulbrandson closed in and made things interesting. Vander Weide hung on for the lead and snagged the win away from Gulbrandson.

Schlumbohm took third ahead of Eric Gaul and Tracy Halouska.

Next up was the USRA B-Mods with Dustin Kruse taking the lead off the pole with Dave Kennedy and Anthony Roth in chase.

A caution created a three-wide battle for the lead before another caution reset the field again. On the restart, Roth shot to the inside to take second heading into turn one and the led off turn two with a slide job on Kruse.

Roth set sail on the field while Damien Vandenberg came charging through the field from 13th and moved into the number two spot.

Roth crossed the line first but failed post-race inspection handing the win to Vandenberg. Kruse grabbed second ahead of Tyler Tesch, Dereck Van Veldhuizen and Camden Meyers.

The Medieval USRA Stock Car race was another fun one to close out the night.

Gulbrandson jumped out in front with Colton Arends right on his back bumper. The two put some distance on the rest of the field but behind the leaders was a wild pack of cars swapping spots. Arends beat on the back bumper of Gulbrandson the majority of the race but just couldn’t get the run he needed to challenge for the lead.

Finally, Arends moved up a lane and to the outside of Gulbrandson but the No. 1 car had just enough off the bottom to hold to top spot. As the battle continued, Gulbrandson slipped up the track and opened the door for Arends to get underneath.

That was all he needed as he took the lead away and went on to win his second feature in a row.
