McCowan, Jackson top Lebanon Midway Speedway opener

Urbana's Dillion McCowan and Lebanon's Kris Jackson topped the Summit USRA Weekly rcing Series season opener Friday night at the Lebanon Midway Speedway.

McCowan took advantage of his front row starting spot and lead all 15 laps of the USRA Modified feature as the two-time USRA B-Mod track champion had his car on a rail.

A great battle for second saw Evan Hubert and Terry Kirk go back and forth with Hubert earning the position while Kirk and Josh Dugan followed.

In USRA B-Mod action, two-time USRA national champion Jackson redrew the pole and top qualifier Dayton Pursley pulled the fourth starting spot.

Jackson jumped to the opening lead as Pursley and Shawn Whitman diced back and forth for second place with Pursley keeping his sights on Jackson.

A late caution gave Pursley a final shot at Jackson but came up short as Whitman was a close third.

Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series action continues next Friday, May 7, with USRA Modifieds and USRA B-Mods headlining the program with racing at 8 p.m.
