Mize, Sigman Memorials feature dirt modified elite Saturday-Sunday at RPM Speedway


The RPM Speedway in Crandall, Texas, is locked and loaded for the biggest two-day event featuring the biggest names in dirt modified racing this Labor Day Weekend presented by Abel Truck & Trailer Sales, Gibson Service Co. and Walker, Warren & Jordan Surveying.

Set for Saturday, September 5, the 6th Annual Bryan Mize Memorial celebrates the life of Kevin Sustaire's longtime crew chief who passed away in 2015. Nicknamed ‘Setuperachaun,’ he operated Bryan Mize Chassis Tuning & Fabrication in North Texas, helping many local area racers.

Then on Sunday, September 6, the popular 1/4-mile dirt oval hosts the second running of the Ronny Sigman Memorial. A generational car owner, champion racer and track manager, Sigman passed away in July of 2018.

For the competitors that these two giants in Texas dirt track racing loved so much, huge payouts match the once-in-a-lifetime bragging rights that come with earning a victory in either of these mega-events.

O'Reilly Auto Parts USRA Modifieds will battle for $2,500 to win each night with a $1,000 bonus up for grabs if a dfriver can win both nights. A complete show of qualifying heat races and main events are on tap each night. Sunday's blockbuster will also feature the $2,000-to-win James Ray Zimmerman Bracket Race with 16 racers battling in head-to-head, one-on-one competition.

Modified purse each night: 1. $2500, 2. $1250, 3. $1000, 4. $700, 5. $500, 6. $450, 7. $400, 8. $375, 9. $350, 10. $300, other starters $250.

When you add in a two-day points fund worth $2,000 to the champion, one USRA Modified racer with the right amount of skill and luck could walk away with more than $10,000.

Modified two-day points fund: 1. $2000, 2. $1500, 3. $1000, 4. $750, 5. $500, 6. $300, 7. $275, 8. $250, 9. $225, 10. $200. Driver must compete both days to be eligible for points fund.

Ken Parker Service Heating & Air USRA Limited Mods and By-Line Surveying USRA Factory Stocks will also be in competition the entire weekend with the winner in each class pocketing $1,000 each night along with no less than $100 for each main event starter.

Limited Modified and Factory Stock payout each night: 1. $1000, 2. $500, 3. $300, 4. $200, 5. $175, 6. $150, 7. $125, 8. $110, other starters $100.

Lone Star Dwarf Cars are also on the card for Saturday's Bryan Mize Memorial. The Southern Touring Late Model Series and DFW Local Late Model Series will join Sunday's program along with Buckmeyer Motorsports Eco-Mods ($500 to win) and Day Motor Sports USRA Tuners ($250 to win).

All USRA divisions will award Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series national points both nights. RPM Speedway track champion Clyde Dunn Jr. is the current USRA Modified national points leader and defending champion of the Bryan Mize Memorial.

John Gober was the winner in 2018, Ken Schrader won the Modified main event in 2017, Wesley Veal won in 2016 and Troy Taylor took down the inaugural running in 2015. Past Limited Mod winners include Cody Smith (2019), Dean Abbey (2018), Jeffrey Abbey (2017, 2016) and Michael Newhard (2015). Past Factory Stock winners include Chris Davis, Ryan Powers (2018) and Dennis Bissonette (2016).

Chris Henigan was the USRA Modified feature winner in last year's inaugural Ronny Sigman Memorial while. Kevin Rowland won the USRA Limited Mod feature and Rodney White snagged the Factory Stock checkers.

Modifieds, Limited Mods and Eco-Mods must be topless both nights. Factory Stocks are optional. Late Models will also be going topless on Sunday.

For Saturday's 6th Annual Bryan Mize Memorial, the pits open at 5 p.m., grandstands open at 5:30, hot laps begin at 7:30 and racing gets underway at 8. General admission tickets are $17, seniors and members of the military get in for $13 and youth ages 6-12 are just $8.

For Sunday's 2nd Annual Ronny Sigman Memorial, the pits open at 4:30 p.m., grandstands open at 5, hot laps begin at 7 and racing gets underway at 7:30. General admission tickets are $20, seniors and members of the military get in for $15 and youth ages 6-12 are just $10.

Kids ages 5 and under get into the grandstands for free both nights. Pit passes each night are $35 (5 and under $15). Drivers must purchase a pit pass for each division they participate in.

The RPM Speedway is a 1/4-mile semi-banked dirt oval located southeast of US 175 in Crandall, Texas, on CR 4106 (Bud Stoy Rd. exit) to the intersection of CR 4104 (Physical address: 1274 CR 4104, Crandall, TX 75114).
