Willis rolls to win at I-44 Speedway

LEBANON, Mo. - The high banks of the I-44 Speedway was as hot as the weather on Saturday night as another new winner claimed his career-first victory in the USRA Modified feature as the Jimmy Willis streak in Lebanon keeps rolling.

The USRA Modified feature had 2006 track champion Justin Neuman jump to the lead on the start and was using the top side pulling out to a big lead while Jimmy Willis, Mookie Cunningham and Corey Simpson were battling.

Neuman, the current track points leader, looked untouchable until lap 8 when the car slid sideways in turn 1, bringing out the yellow flag.

It was determined later that the driveshaft broke, giving Willis the lead.

On the restart, Corey Simpson went to the top side while Willis was determined to stay on the bottom groove.

Willis pulled away after a couple of laps to open the lead, but with one lap to go the yellow flag flew as Cunningham spun in turn 1.

On the restart, Simpson shot to the top side again but Willis was prepared as he opened up a four-car-length lead and claimed his first-ever I-44 Speedway win.

Simpson, Danny Atkinson, Bill Glawson and Cunningham completed the top-5.
