USRA Modifieds on the card at I-44 Speedway Aug. 9

LEBANON, Mo. - Officials from the I-44 Speedway in Lebanon, Mo., announced today that the O'Reilly USMTS National Tour event scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 9, has been canceled. Officials from the USMTS hope to announce a replacement venue for this event.

"We lost time due to the new surface and rain this season, and with our Larry Phillips Memorial Race only three weeks later we felt that we might have had some special events too close together," said promoter Randy Mooneyham.

"This was a tough decision as we had the second race in the Casey's General Stores Hunt for the USMTS National Championship, and those drivers put on a great show."

A regular weekly show featuring the USRA Modifieds, Factory Stocks, B-Mods, Bombers and Rookies will be running that evening instead.

This season, the I-44 Speedway opened their season on March 29 with the USMTS Modifieds on a very cold night as Jason Hughes of Westville, Okla., took home the honors.

"While I-44 Speedway won't be holding the USMTS event, the fans in the area will still get to see these great drivers as the Midway Speedway in Lebanon will host the first race of the Hunt on Friday, August 8," added Mooneyham.

The I-44 Speedway has been a member of the United States Racing Association for the past three seasons.
