Williams picks up Out-Pace USRA B-Mod win at Tri-State Speedway

With the USMTS Modifieds in town Saturday night at the mighty Tri-State Speedway, the Out-Pace USRA B-Mods showed up with 44 cars and raced for points and a $650 payday.

A nice low 80s temperature greeted an overflow crowd with a slight breeze from the south. The pre-race ceremonies started at 8:20 p.m. with the invocation followed by the national anthem performed by members of the Greenwood, Ark., Junior High School choir. Heat races were determined by the driver’s draw at sign in, and drivers advanced to their features heads up with an inverted redraw.

The first race on the track after intermission was for the first Out-Pace USRA B-Mod "B" feature that saw Jeff Metcalf of Siloam Springs, Ark., take the checkers. In the second "B" feature, Chris Hawkins of Neosho, Mo., crossed the finish line first.

Up next was the "A" feature where Brian Williams of Fayetteville, Ark., took home the win. Checotah's Daniel Tarkington grabbed second place over Steve Muilenburg of Sparta, Mo.
