The biggest Out-Pace USRA B-Mod victory of Ben Moudry’s career came in the marquee event of the year Saturday as he dominated the 25-lap main event at the 19th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree.

Moudry, who started sixth, shot past early leader Derek Clement to lead lap six, and then stretch his lead to more than a straight-away around the Deer Creek Speedway’s high-banked 3/8-mile clay oval.

A two-car spin slowed the pace on the second lap, but it was “the big one” on the restart that brough out the red flag and produced a ten-minute delay to clear several wrecked machines from the front-stretch. No drivers were injured in the melee.

The next yellow flag wouldn’t wave until lap 22 for a spin in turn three, and Moudry was flawless on the restart to secure his fifth Iron Man Challenge victory of the 2017 campaign.

With bonuses from Red Tail Tackle, the grandchildren of Randy & Patty Eastvold and an anonymous sponsor, Moudry’s take-home pay was $3,000.

Jim Chisholm, who won Thursday’s opener. Finished second in Saturday’s main event to register his third top-five finish of the weekend.

Scott Demmer was third, track champion Dustin Kruse finished fourth and 12th-starting J.T. Wasmund earned a fifth-place paycheck. Erik Kanz, Trevor Fecht, Kylie Kath, Andy Bryant and Jimmy Broszeit completed the top ten.

Dan Hovden, who was involved in the feature’s final caution, remains the points leader in the Iron Man Challenge for the Out-Pace USRA B-Mods. Moudry moved up to second in the rankings while the series’ defending champ, Bryant, is third.

Cole Denner, Kyle Anderson, Kruse, Brandon Hare, Brian Mahlstedt, Fecht and Jared Timmerman are fourth through tenth, respectively.

Several tracks are still hosting top-notch Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series events while other big events are also on the horizon, not the least of which takes place Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 12-14, at the I-35 Speedway in Winston, Mo., for the 4th Annual Summit USRA Nationals and the next-to-last event for the Iron Man Challenge.

One week later, Oct. 20-22, the Southern New Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces, N.M., hosts the 18th Annual Rancho Milagro USRA Fall Nationals with USRA Modifieds racing for $20,000 to win.
