USMTS to invade Minnesota and Iowa Wednesday-Saturday

SLAYTON, Minn. -- The United States Modified Touring Series will kick off another big swing starting this Wednesday night with a return visit to the Murray County Speedway in Slayton, MN. The series visited the Slayton racetrack back in May when Mother Nature ended the evenings races a little early forcing track officials to reschedule the racing action for July 2nd. The racing on July 2nd with Mother Nature threatening around the area again was pulled off and Tommy Myer from Blooming Prairie, MN picked up the win after Al Hejna who led the first twenty-eight laps pulled off with mechanical troubles. This will be the second visit of the season to the speedway and fans will be treated to some great side by side racing action. Also running on Wednesday night will be the USRA Stock Cars for $1000 to win. If any driver has raced the track at least twice it will pay $1200 to win. These will be the only two classes of cars running on Wednesday night so the show should move along at a good pace getting fans home at a decent time. Gates will open at 5pm with hot laps slated for 7pm and racing to follow. On Thursday the series will make its only appearance of the season to the Eldon Raceway in Eldon, IA. Last year the series made one appearance and Jason Hughes from Colcord, OK picked up the win. This year should be no different as several cars should be on hand for the racing action on Thursday night. Also running will be the USRA Hobby Stocks for $300 to win and the USRA Stock Cars for $400 to win. This will be a good chance to see several of the top running Hobby Stocks, Stock Cars and Modifieds do battle on this ½ mile speedway. On Friday the series will move to the fast Cresco Speedway in Cresco, IA for some more exciting side by side racing action. This will be a regular race night and all weekly classes will be running a complete program except the modifieds will be racing for the $2000 to win payout. Kabrick Distributing will be sponsoring the night’s event, which will feature some of the top modifieds from the area. The final night of racing action will happen at the Jackson Speedway in Jackson, MN during the Jackson Nationals. John McCorkel and crew have put together a great program that will feature the USMTS modifieds racing on the final night with the sprint cars and fans will be treated to some great racing action.

McCorkel and crew have raised the normal $2000 to win USMTS show to $3000 as drivers will have to unload their trailers on this night.
