Gulbrandsons 1-2 in Hartford USRA Hobby Stocks

HARTFORD, S.D.--Accomplished asphalt racer Thor Anderson already has a cache of top 5 finishes in the area this spring. A last lap pass of Curt Ahlers gave Anderson his first career USRA B-Mod win Saturday on Coffee Cup Night at I-90 Speedway.

A couple of front stretch get-togethers and a seemingly endless parade of caution flags for spins took the race to the time limit. The call for a green-white-checkered finish came with just four laps scored.

"He kept running the bottom so I took it up top," said Anderson, a former Hawkeye Downs track champion whose move on the sixth lap took him to victory lane.

Miah Christensen also got by Ahlers before the checkered flag. Dustin Kruse came from the back after having to change a tire to earn fourth.

The Gulbrandsons finished 1-2 in the USRA Hobby Stock A-Main. Dustin Gulbrandson started seventh and led all 12 feature laps.

Commenting on taking the opening lap lead Gulbrandson said, "There are a lot of young drivers in this class. I thought they might over drive it into (turn) two."

Gulbrandson clung to the bottom of the track to hold off Cole Gulbrandson who came from fifth to earn second. Tim Waltner finished third ahead of last week's feature winner Chad Lonneman.
