Red River Speedway rained out
WICHITA FALLS, Texas--Between the nearly four inches of rain that has fallen on Red River Speedway during the past couple of days through this morning, coupled with the forecast of 70 percent chance of strong to severe thunderstorms today, it has caused tonight's racing event to be rained out.
We would ask that all race fans and teams pay extra special attention to the weather conditions in their area, as there are more severe storms forecast today and tomorrow in the region. Be extra careful traveling and watch for flooded roadways, and if you are at home have an action plan in place to get to your safe area if severe weather is about to strike.
With tonight's rainout, the next RRS event will be Sunday, May 24, with the running of the $25,000 Panhandle 30 featuring $1,000 to win for the USRA Modifieds. Races are set for 7 p.m. Click www.RRSpeedway.com for complete event details and flyer.
Due to all of the rainouts, we're going to change things up a bit for the previously scheduled open practice night on Friday, May 22. We will still be having open practice for any and all racing divisions, with all pit passes $15 for all ages and the grandstand will be open with free admission. Gates open by 7 p.m. and practice will run until around 10:30.
Please make plans to join us for the $25,000 Panhandle 30 on Sunday, May 24. We're hoping to make it a Memorial Day Weekend tradition at Red River Speedway. And in the meantime, please pay extra attention to the ever changing weather conditions in your area during this extra long severe season that 2015 has become.
And once this wet part of the season has passed, we'll once again get to Kick a Little Dirt at Red River Speedway.
