ARCADIA, Wis. (June 27, 2001) - Mike Chasteen of Peoria, Ill., has figured something out with his Pierce Modified as he picked up his third straight win in the United States Modified Touring Series. Chasteen who in the last five races has finished no worse than fourth place was passed a week ago in Fairmont on the white flag lap or would have won the last four races.

On Wednesday at the new Fox Ridge Speedway in Arcadia, Wis., Chasteen started the race from the second row outside and was running second to Jason Hughes when the two drivers started to encounter lap traffic as this race had no yellow flags. Hughes tried to take the low side of the lapped car as they went down the backstretch. The lapped car also tried going low as Chasteen went by on the outside.

Tommy Myer came home with a strong third place finish after starting the race in the third row.

This top-notch facility will be host to the next USMTS north region race on July 20. Dave and Judy Hesch have put together this great facility and the racing is fantastic as drivers can race three- and four-wide on this track.

The race track really started coming in at the end of the Simpson Race Products A-main as Kevin Peters of Monmouth, Ill., was about to get lapped by Chasteen and all of the sudden Peters moved his M&M Chassis to the high side and started pulling away from Chasteen. Some drivers realized that the top was coming in and followed Peters. Peters had bad luck in the heat race and B-main, but used a provisional to get into the race and started 24th before working his way up to a 13th-place finish.

Rounding out the top five was Kelly Shryock and Mike Spaulding.

Harris Auto Racing Heat races were won by Hughes, Tim Donlinger, Les Duellman, Myer and Chasteen. Duellman picked the no. 1 frisbee and led the first three laps before Hughes worked his way around him. The Midwest Motorsports B-mains were won by Mark Noble and Dan Daniels.

A very good crowd was on hand for the racing action as forty-three cars checked in.
